Daytrip from Paris: The Champagne Region

Champagne is one of the easiest and most rewarding day trips from Paris. We went to Reims, Epernay and Ay where we saw multiple vineyards and cellar doors, including Moet & Chandon’s. The trip is easily one of my best decisions overseas!

It was an early start in the morning, but it was worth it. We used Viator to find a tour with a local tour company, Paris Vision. Our French guide was hilarious, incredibly knowledgeable and kept us entertained on the drive there and back. Well, the parts we were awake for anyway. He picked us up from a hotel and drove us in a small mini van which seated eight, with nice wide windows for snapping photos.

The drive alone was worth the trip. The French countryside drive is beautifully scenic, especially when passing through quaint towns and endless vineyards. You could drive yourself but I enjoyed having the tour because all we had to do was relax and take in the view!

  1. I totally agree! Champagne is a must see. I did a tour that took us through Reims and Epernay and it was definitely one of the highlights of my time in Paris–the gothic cathedral in Reims was magnificent.
