Best Affordable Boutique Hotels in Palm Springs

When I travel, I prefer small boutique hotels or B&Bs over massive hotel chains or hostels. Boutique hotels are often owned and managed by locals who put their heart & soul into hospitality  it’s not just a spare room they’re renting, it’s their livelihood. Not only do I feel better about supporting the local economy and people who make hospitality their business, but I’ve found boutique hotels also have much more local flavour than their chain hotel counterparts and better service & creature comforts than local hostels.

Palm Springs is a stylish desert city in California, best known for being a celebrity hotspot since the 1950s. Of course, this also means that sipping maragaritas by a hotel pool in Palm Springs can be pretty pricey! Here are five affordable, boutique hotels that you can book online with Hipmunk, to save money on your next stay in Palm Springs.

Alcazar Palm Springs

Light, airy rooms and Mexican-inspired whitewashed buildings covered in crawling vines give Alcazar Palm Springs the ambience of somewhere much more glamorous than its $99 per night rate suggests. The lovely pool area is adorned with the requisite palm trees and 1950s glam, with views of mountains in the distance  it doesn’t get much more Palm Springs than this!

Andreas Hotel & Spa

Built in 1935, this historic hotel has old world charm, with the modern creature comforts you’d expect from a boutique hotel. Andreas Hotel & Spa is designed for all seasons, making it a great choice year-round. Relax by the pool with a cocktail from the poolside bar or get cosy by the outdoor fireplace. The hotel’s 25 rooms are furnished in the Spanish Revival style of the 1930s. When in Palm Springs, act like a celebrity and treat yourself to an upgraded room  complete with marble bathroom with oversized jacuzzis and a walk-in shower.

Andreas Hotel & Spa is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Palm Springs, near the Palm Springs Art Museum, Agua Caliente Cultural Museum, and the Palm Springs Convention Center.

Avanti Palm Springs

This mid-century modern-style hotel bears the glamour of the fifties, but has been recently refurbished to ensure maximum comfort during your stay. The super cute pool area screams Palm Springs chic, against the backdrop of towering, spindly palm trees and the stunning San Jacinto mountains. All of the studio rooms at Avanti have a shaded patio area, giving you the extra room to relax in style. Daily maid service is included, and the hotel offers free Wi-Fi, breakfast, and happy hour at the bar  my favourite three freebies!

Caliente Tropics Hotel Palm Springs

This tiki-style tropical hotel has been hosting stars like Elvis and the Rat Pack since the 1960s, and shows no signs of slowing down after a recent renovation. Caliente Tropics Hotel has one of the largest pools in Palm Springs, as well as outdoor cabanas, BBQs, a large hot tub, and a lawn area  perfect for throwing a frisbee with your four-legged friend, because they’re welcome too.
