Burgundy, France, road through a canopy of trees

Burgundy

Burgundy is French wine country at its finest. Home to the world famous red burgundy (pinot noir) and white burgundy (chardonnay), Burgundy is one of the best places in France for oenophiles, but has so much to offer travellers outside the cellar door. Burgundy was once the richest and most powerful state in Europe, a legacy that reverberates in its grand chateaux, elegant wines and sophisticated cuisine that is the basis of haute cuisine, France’s greatest cultural export. Like a fine wine, Burgundy is perfectly balanced. It’s elegance and grandeur are brought down to earth by rolling hills of farmland and vineyards, a sparse population, sleepy small towns and a deep connection to nature.
