big sur in california

California

California is one of the most iconic destinations on the planet. Home to endless miles of rugged coastline, hundreds of beaches, dozens of wine regions and a charming mix of small towns and dynamic cities, the largest state in the USA seems to have it all. “The Golden State” has inspired artists for over a hundred years and is a magnet for writers, photographers, musicians and of course, actresses, directors and producers. “SoCal” is a creative hub for the arts, while “NoCal” counts the farm-to-table food movement and Silicon Valley in its claim to fame, along with ancient forests of towering redwoods and the rugged Big Sur coastline.

I acknowledge the Esselen as the First Nations owners of the lands now recognised as Big Sur. I pay respect to their Elders, lores, customs and creation spirits. I recognise that these lands have always been places of great natural beauty, culture and community.
