Riomaggiore: Cinque Terre’s most colourful village

Cinque Terre is famous for it’s brightly-coloured buildings, but Riomaggiore takes the (rainbow) cake.

The punchy colour scheme in Vernazza, the vivid blue sea and the colour-coordinated umbrellas in Monterosso and the popping pastels in Manarola are no match for the colours of Riomaggiore.

Shades of sunshine yellow, bright orange and watermelon pink punctuated by forest-green shutters shine even brighter against the brilliant blue sky.  Bright bunting strung across the main street gave the town a festive feeling. Even the local laundry meets the bright & breezy dress code. Not an drab shade in sight! 1. Thanks Maddy! 🙂 Have an amazing time, it’s such a special place! Check out my posts about Levanto, which is just up the road from Cinque Terre – a beautiful place to watch the sun set and escape the crowds

  1. Cool! 🙂 these colorful buildings can actually brighten a person’s day. It’s like, when one is depressed and walks down this kind of street with vibrant-colored buildings, somehow, he’d have a realization that even non-living things are colorful, leading him to think ‘so as my life’. 🙂
