September Recap

A year ago this month, I returned from an amazing adventure through France, Italy, Greece & Turkey with my best friend. It seems fitting that this month, I enjoyed more of Australia. I loved every minute of my third trip to Europe, but upon returning home I promised myself that I’d see more of Australia in 2014. This month I’ve enjoyed the warmer weather with … Continue reading September Recap

Stay in Maleny: Roseville House B&B

We spent a weekend away from Brisbane, in the beautiful Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Halfway between Maleny & Montville at Balmoral Lookout, Roseville House enjoys beautiful views over the hinterland out to the ocean. The federation-style Queenslander has been beautiful preserved, with wide verandahs wrapping around most of the house, beautiful communal dining and living rooms and immaculate, flower-filled gardens. We stayed in the Grevillea Cottage, … Continue reading Stay in Maleny: Roseville House B&B

Strawberry picking on the Sunshine Coast

I’ve wanted to visit the Strawberry Fields Farm at Palmview on the Sunshine Coast for ages, and the perfect opportunity arose on our drive up to the Sunshine Coast Hinterland this past weekend. David & I were taking a long weekend in the mountain townships of Montville & Maleny and the fields are only a half-hour detour. I acknowledge the Kabi Kabi and Jinibara peoples … Continue reading Strawberry picking on the Sunshine Coast

Travel Plans for Spring 2014

Like clockwork, the 1st of September turned up the sunshine in Brisbane. It couldn’t have come sooner, I love warm weather! Already it’s so much easier to eat well, exercise and get outdoors. To be honest, Brisbane’s sub-tropical climate means we enjoy pretty beautiful weather all year round but the start of the warmer seasons puts a huge smile on my dial. I’ve had a … Continue reading Travel Plans for Spring 2014

10 Amazing Crocodile Facts I learned at Australia Zoo

There is a lot more to Australia Zoo than crocodiles, but it’s these reptilian super hunters which make the zoo famous. I though Steve Irwin, of Crocodile Hunter fame opened the zoo, but it’s been around since the 1970s when it was founded by his parents. It used to be fairly small, with mostly reptiles but today it has animals from Asia, Africa and Australia and … Continue reading 10 Amazing Crocodile Facts I learned at Australia Zoo

Top 5 Travel Experiences 2013

In 2013 I had an amazing five-week holiday with my best friend around France, Greece, Italy & Turkey. What a way to celebrate graduating from uni! I felt like most of 2013 was spent head down, bum up, as I finished my final semester of university, planned the trip and worked two jobs so I could afford to go. Of course, all of this added to … Continue reading Top 5 Travel Experiences 2013

A Weekend on Slow Stradbroke Island

Another day in Queensland, another unspoilt island. While my northern hemisphere friends are shaking off their winter coats and welcoming some sunshine, I’m saying goodbye to summer for another year. To get one more beach holiday in before the temperature drops I spent a long weekend on stunning North Stradbroke Island, or “Straddie” as we know it, with my boyfriend. Stradbroke Island is only a … Continue reading A Weekend on Slow Stradbroke Island

Goma Brisbane

Cai Guo-Qiang & California Design at Brisbane’s GoMA

The Queensland Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in Brisbane is the most visited art gallery in Australia for a reason. Every major exhibition held there goes the extra mile to stun audiences into thinking a little deeper. In my opinion, since it’s opening in  2006 it’s also encouraged the Queensland Art Gallery (QAG) next door to lift its game. It’s situated in the heart of … Continue reading Cai Guo-Qiang & California Design at Brisbane’s GoMA
